With our new Christmas brochure ready to land any day now, we thought we would give you a few sneak peeks at what to expect inside and how we put everything together. This behind the scenes exclusive will show you some tricks of the trade and give you an idea of how we compose our stunning imagery to showcase our latest Christmas additions… all with the help of our little friend Bear the Labrador puppy.

Our stylist...

Our expert stylist Lizzie always incorporates trends of the moments with a Culinary Concepts twist into her beautiful lifestyle designs. This year’s Christmas brochure vision combines Nordic themes with rustic accents, for a homely festive look that shows off our variety of decorations perfectly. The colour theme includes neutral stone greys, natural wood, dusty purples, nude pinks and refreshing white marble - all brought together by our classic Culinary Concepts navy. These tones were perfectly selected to create a sophisticated and stylish look across our new brochure.

Building the sets...

We create our sets in a number of different ways. Although all of our images look like they are photographed in a stylish home, believe it or not, this isn’t always the case! We often use rotating sets that can be slotted together to create a variety of different walls and floor styles. This allows us to create luxurious looks - even if we are shooting from inside a barn! For some shots, we hire out a venue and style the space differently for every product.

Texture...

We also like to play with texture and enjoy creating stunning contrasts to add interest to our looks. Using textured and patterned tiles with an antique finish, different coloured wood panelling, wooden floorboards and smooth marble - we are able to create a wide range of effects.

Props and Placements...

A lot of work goes into styling every shot. Every product is positioned and placed for the perfect look - a nudge to the left or right can make all the difference! For each piece we use a variety of props such as wine bottles, vintage books, textiles and much more.

Colours…

Balancing the colours in every shot is so important, you will often see a strong contrast in colours and finishes used to really make a product pop. It's fun to play with these contrasts, especially with the Christmas collections which are full of shimmering shades and beautiful textures.

Photography...

Last but by no means least, a skilled photographer is an absolute must have and all of ours is done by the super talented Matt. Getting the right angle, creating the right lighting and capturing high quality photographs that represent our products are all an important part of the final images. Capturing all of our hard work in one snap is no easy feat!

A Few Shots to Look Out For…

For this year’s front cover we wanted to show a range of our newest Christmas decorations whilst creating a really iconic visual with a festive yet stylish look. We sourced a gorgeous old dovecote full of character with peeling white paint, rusty textures and an overall vintage look. In keeping with the Nordic theme, we paired this with a wooden background and white faux fur. This all combined to create the perfect backdrop for our stunning baubles, which were arranged artfully on the different levels of the dovecote. We love how the shining golds, blues and silvers stand out from the neutral backdrop.

Another stunner of a shot has to be our tealight lifestyle which shows a range of our new festive inspired tea light holders. These shimmering gold designs have been paired with the complementary shade of blue-grey and placed against a textured backdrop to really make them pop. The overall effect is highly atmospheric.

Putting together a great drinks trolley shot is always fun and a great way to incorporate a lot of our stunning barware collections. Look out for our Lanesborough Three Tier Drinks Trolley which has been beautifully decked out with our Palace barware collection. For this shot we paired an on-trend dusty pink wood panel backdrop with a white marble floor and green palms. What makes this shot truly special is the warm light that bounces off the palace collection and creates a stunning shimmering effect.
